Presented project “HEARTS – Healthcare Equity and Access for Resilient Targeted Support”

In Žepč, a cross-border cooperation project entitled “HEARTS – Healthcare Equity and Access for Resilient Targeted Support” was presented, financed as part of the INTERREG VI-A IPA Croatia-Bosnia and Herzegovina-Montenegro 2021-2027. It is a project that ensures equal access to health services for all vulnerable groups in the cross-border area. The project holders are five institutions from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and Montenegro, and the focus is on improving conditions for socialization and work with children with developmental disabilities. The value of the project is 1.7 million euros and will be implemented for the next 30 months.
Development Agency Žepče, one of the partners in the project, hosted the first kick-off conference attended by representatives of partner organizations Center for the provision of services in the community of Vukovar-Srijem County, Development Agency of Vukovar-Srijem County, Association of Parents of Children with Developmental Difficulties Podgorica, JU Dom zdravlja with inpatient unit Žepče, representatives of the municipal administration led by the municipal mayor Mata Zovko, Minister of Health in Zenica-Doboj County Aida Salčinović with colleagues, representatives of elementary schools and preschool institutions, Center for children and adults with special needs as well as representatives of non-governmental organizations that care for children and youth with special needs from Žepče, Zavidovići and Zenica. During the conference, they talked about problems in the health care of children with developmental disabilities in the project area, as well as examples of good practice that are still rare but should be welcomed and tried to be “transferred” to other project areas.
